Overview of role
- Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and receive training for your role.
- Communicate with clients by phone, face-to-face, or online to explore the issues they need help with.
- Research information related to clients’ problems and explain their available options in a clear, supportive way.
- Support clients in taking action to resolve their problems, which may include drafting letters, making phone calls, or referring them to another organisation.
- Record a summary of clients’ issues and the actions taken.
- Identify common or unfair problems and prepare a short report or letter to an elected representative, such as an MP, AM, or local councillor.

We provide general advice on housing, employment, immigration and consumer issues with specialist advice in debt and welfare benefits. We can also refer clients to specialist advisers from other organisations, in employment, immigration, housing etc
