FROM ME TO YOU
Mental health and wellbeing
1 in 3 cancer patients say that they feel lonely, regardless of the support network around them. We aim to ease that. At From Me to You we send over 10,000 letters every year to cancer patients - helping to connect with them, show them they are not alone and ease the feelings of isolation.
These 10,000 letters are generated by our Donate A Letter programme, which encourages people from around the world to write for us. Anyone can write. Whatever the contents of the letter, it's the much-needed distraction and escapism that the letters offer that's most appreciated. To some letter recipients, these letters are a little mood lifter on a tough day. To others they are a lifeline, offering the recipient a window to a world outside of their cancer journey.
Our letters are distributed through hospitals and cancer centres across the UK and to people at home who have registered to receive our letters. We also encourage, support and enable people to feel confident in writing to those they know with cancer - keeping the vital lines of communication open at a time when some people struggle to know what to say.
Our regular online workshops and community outreach helps us to engage people with our work. We also work with corporates, social groups, Duke of Edinburgh's award students and libraries to reach and support more people.
To keep up with demand - and ensure no one has to face the disease on their own - we need more letter writers. Can you help? A letter from you could mean a dark day is brightened for a cancer patient.
On behalf of everyone who will benefit from you putting pen to paper, thank you. The From Me to You team
