Description
You’ll find plenty of ways to use your listening skills as well as being a first point of advice for practical concerns that young people face or for supporting them in fun and exciting activities and games. We have our Youth Sessions based in Watford and Hatfield.
Tuesdays (Watford, Orbital Community Centre)
4.30pm to 6.30pm (Juniors)
6.30pm to 8pm (Seniors)
Wednesdays
The Hive @ Jim McDonald Centre
Seniors - 4.30pm to 6pm
Thursdays
St John' Youth Centre
Juniors - 4.30pm to 6pm
Project Group - 6.30 to 7.30
You will be:
Supporting youth work activities and workshops
Supervising young people in discussion sessions
Building positive relationships with young people
Working with other staff to plan and evaluate activities by gaining feedback
The impact you'll have
Supporting young people in leading activities and mentoring support by providing a listening ear and practical support and guidance.
The skills you'll need
You will need to have the following skills in order to participate:
• Passion for supporting and empowering young people • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Reliable and commitment to weekly sessions • Ability to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team • A calm, patient, and non-judgmental attitude • Basic understanding of youth issues (desirable, but not essential) • Previous youth work or volunteering experience (desirable)

Families, children and young people
We provide social housing for single people and support the training and development of young people and residents. We also operate a range of children’s centres and a full-day nursery.
In addition, we deliver community services including health, sports and recreation programmes, along with facilities and meeting spaces for local groups.
