The Salvation Army charity shops help generate vital income to fund services that provide practical support and a positive future for people within the community.

We are looking for volunteers to support out charity shop in Leicester South. As a Volunteer Charity Shop Assistant, you will support the Charity Shop Manager in the day-to-day running of the shop and help create a welcoming environment for customers.

Your role may include talking to customers and making them feel welcome, advising customers as they browse, supporting visual merchandising to ensure the shop looks its best, helping sort, price and prepare donated goods for sale, operating the till and handling different types of payment, answering customer enquiries, and maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.

Location: Salvation Army Charity Shop, Ladysmith Road, Leicester Time Commitment: Around 3–4 hours per week, during usual retail hours

The impact you'll have

Charity shops play an essential role in funding the work of The Salvation Army within local communities. By volunteering in the shop, you will help maximise income from donated goods while ensuring customers receive a welcoming and positive experience.

Your involvement will help support the continued success of our local shop, contributing directly to services that assist individuals and families in need.

  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are able to work well as part of a team
  • Have basic numeracy skills
  • Are friendly, reliable and willing to learn

You do not need previous retail experience. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
