The Salvation Army Employment Plus Local in Aldershot is seeking a Volunteer Job Club Adviser to support individuals in seeking and gaining employment.
In this role, you will work one-to-one with clients to identify the support they require. This may include helping individuals set up email accounts and Universal Jobmatch accounts, assisting with CV writing and editing, supporting both online and paper-based job applications, and providing mock interview practice. You will also offer practical support with computer use, signpost clients to other appropriate agencies where necessary, and undertake relevant administrative tasks. You will work alongside the Corps Officer and Employment Plus Local Coordinator and receive induction and ongoing support.
Location: The Salvation Army Aldershot, 1 North Lane, Aldershot, GU12 4QE
Time Commitment: Tuesdays, 10:00am–1:00pm (agreed with the Employment Plus Local Coordinator)
The impact you'll have
Many individuals accessing Employment Plus face barriers such as limited digital confidence, lack of up-to-date CVs or uncertainty around the application process. By providing patient, practical and encouraging support, you will help clients build confidence, strengthen their employability and take meaningful steps towards securing work. Your involvement contributes directly to the local impact of The Salvation Army in Aldershot.
The skills you'll need
You will need to have the following skills in order to participate:
We are looking for volunteers who have:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Good listening skills and empathy
- Reliability and a supportive approach
- Confidence using the internet, Microsoft Office and Google documents
- Basic IT knowledge, including setting up and using computer equipment
- Understanding of the Universal Jobmatch website
- Experience in CV writing, job application support or interview preparation
