  • Are you a confident cook who enjoys planning and preparing nutritious meals for others?

The Salvation Army in Brighton is seeking a Volunteer Lunch Club Cook to plan and deliver a weekly hot meal for its community lunch club.

In this role, you will work within an agreed budget, liaising with the Corps Leader to plan a healthy and balanced menu for approximately 10–20 people each week. Responsibilities include producing a shopping list, preparing, cooking and serving the meal, and ensuring washing up and kitchen areas are left clean and compliant with food safety and hygiene regulations. You will also be responsible for accurately completing relevant health and safety records.

Location: Brighton Salvation Army Corps

Time Commitment: Tuesday mornings / early afternoons

The skills you'll need

You will need to have the following skills in order to participate:

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Hold Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (or are willing to complete one)
  • Can plan and deliver healthy, nutritious meals within a set budget
  • Understand dietary requirements and allergies
  • Have good catering and food handling skills
  • Can work effectively to timescales
  • Are able to complete health and safety records accurately
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and team working skills
  • Are reliable and organised

Volunteer induction and all relevant training will be provided.
