  • Are you a confident cook who enjoys planning and preparing nutritious meals for others?

The Salvation Army in Maldon is seeking a Volunteer Lunch Club Cook to plan and deliver nutritious meals for its weekly community lunch club.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning a healthy and balanced menu, producing a shopping list, preparing and cooking the meal, and ensuring the kitchen is left clean and tidy after service. You will work within an agreed budget and ensure meals are prepared in accordance with food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards, including taking account of dietary requirements and allergies.

Location: Maldon Salvation Army Corps, 12 Wantz Road, Maldon, Essex CM9 5DE

Time Commitment: Wednesdays, 9:00am–2:00pm

The skills you'll need

You will need to have the following skills in order to participate:

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Hold Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (or are willing to complete one)
  • Can plan and deliver healthy and nutritious menus within a budget
  • Understand dietary requirements and allergies
  • Have good catering and food handling skills
  • Can work effectively to timescales
  • Are able to complete health and safety records accurately
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and team working skills
  • Are reliable and organised

Volunteer induction and all relevant training will be provided.
