WINCHESTER STREET PASTORS
Community and neighbourhood
Trained, uniformed volunteer Street Pastors are out in teams in the centre of Winchester every Friday and Saturday night, offering reassurance, safety and support by caring, listening and helping. We are there for anyone who needs support or just a friendly, non-judgmental listening ear. While the teams are out, two 'Prayer Pastors' are back at base, praying in response to regular phone updates, and keeping the kettle on for the break. Trained, uniformed volunteer School Pastors are in 2 Secondary and 4 Primary Schools in Winchester one lunchtime each week in term-time. As neither teachers nor parents to the pupils, they are in a privileged position and build great relationships with both pupils and staff. Street Pastors was originally a church-led initiative, and we ask that our volunteers are regular members of a Christian church based in Winchester or nearby. We welcome volunteers from all denominations.
