Community Link Volunteer

Description
As a Link Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting blind and partially sighted members in your local area. From a quick phone call to say hello, to helping organise transport to clubs, to celebrating special occasions. You’ll be a friendly link that helps members feel connected, included, and supported.
What you will be doing: • Keeping in touch with members by phone or in person (with flexibility depending on needs) • Helping arrange and, where possible, joining transport to club sessions (1–2 times per month) • Visiting members who may be unwell, celebrating birthdays, or supporting at key moments (e.g. funerals, centenary bouquets) • Supporting with outings, pop-up activities, and annual events • Helping with doorstep deliveries for members who can’t attend events (e.g. Christmas and summer party treats) • Attending occasional committee meetings and training (approx. 4 times per year + annual training session) • Getting involved in local fundraising and awareness events, distributing flyers, and encouraging new members and volunteers

The skills you'll need
You will need to have the following skills in order to participate:
• Friendly, approachable, and reliable • Good communicator and comfortable keeping in touch by phone and in person • Able to work both independently and as part of a team • Enthusiastic, flexible, and community-minded
This role requires an Enhanced DBS check, as it involves supporting vulnerable people on a one-to-one basis.
