Description

Long Covid Kids is seeking a new Trustee to join our dedicated Board, helping to shape our strategic priorities and guide the charity's work.

As a Trustee, you will attend Board and committee meetings (currently remote) and represent the charity externally. The initial appointment is for three years, renewable, with a maximum tenure of six years.

The Board meets monthly (envisaged to reduce to quarterly). Trustees commit to: • Preparing for and actively contributing to Board meetings • Serving on sub-groups or leading specific areas of work • Attending mandatory training • Joining relevant briefing sessions

We are particularly keen to hear from people with trustee or governance experience, ideally within the charity/not-for-profit sector.

Experience especially welcome in: • Charity governance, board leadership, or not-for-profit management • Health, social care, or education • Supporting children, young people, or vulnerable communities • Safeguarding and risk management • Income generation, fundraising strategy, or sustainable funding models

We also welcome applicants newer to trusteeship who bring relevant professional experience, sound judgement, and commitment to learning.

Above all, we're looking for people who: • Are interested in Long Covid and overlapping illnesses • Are motivated by equity, inclusion, and dignity • Can listen deeply and act with empathy • Are comfortable with complexity and uncertainty • Can help strengthen systems, processes, and long-term strategy • Believe in the power of community and collaboration

All trustees will be required to complete a DBS check where appropriate.

The impact you'll have

As a Trustee, you will help shape the strategic direction of a charity working at the forefront of an emerging health condition. Your leadership will directly influence how we support families, strengthen our evidence base, build partnerships, and advocate for better care and educational support for children and young people living with Long Covid. You will play a key role in ensuring that Long Covid Kids remains resilient, well-governed and able to respond effectively to the needs of the families we serve.

We raise awareness of the symptoms of Long Covid and related illnesses in children and young people to aid early diagnosis and ensure early intervention and support. We connect and support parents and caregivers of children and young people living with post-viral illness. We call for well-being to be placed into the heart of education so that all children can learn and thrive.
