Male Mentors - Support For Young Men

Unfold is looking for male mentors to support young men aged 10 to 25 across Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea. This is a powerful opportunity to provide consistent, supportive guidance to young men who may be facing challenges in their personal, social, or educational lives. As a mentor, your presence can help build confidence, resilience, and a sense of direction.
Through weekly mentoring sessions, typically offered over 12 to 24 weeks, you’ll create a space where your mentee can reflect on the changes they want to make and the goals they hope to achieve. Using a coaching-style approach, you'll guide them in developing strategies to reach those goals while offering a safe, non-judgemental environment to talk through the challenges they face.
As a mentor, you’ll:
- Support a young man in exploring personal, social, or professional goals.
- Offer emotional and practical support through regular one-to-one sessions.
- Encourage social connections and help navigate local groups or services.
- Signpost to specialist support organisations when needed.
Other info on what you provide Through our comprehensive training and ongoing support, you will develop skills in positive psychology and coaching style techniques, cover topics including safeguarding, confidentiality, the person-centred approach and the growth mindset all of which will help you to effectively support someone to making steps towards positive change.
Further info on where the opportunity takes place Although occasionally session are held online, through mentee and mentor testimonies we have seen the positive impact holding sessions in person vs online has, and so we would ask any perspective volunteers to be prepared to be available for all in person session should this be the required need of your mentee. In person session will take place near to where your mentee lives, within Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea boroughs.

Your mentoring will help reduce isolation, support wellbeing, and create stronger community links for young men who may be at risk of being left behind. By sharing your time and perspective, you’ll be contributing to a wider mission to improve outcomes for families and young people in the local area.
